Why My Prices Are Increasing (And What That Means for You)

This isn’t the easiest post to write, but it comes from a place of care, honesty, and respect—for both my work and the people who welcome it into their lives.

As of this month, I’ve made the decision to adjust the pricing of my custom house portraits. This shift reflects more than just rising material and shipping costs (though those are very real). It reflects the time, energy, and heart I pour into each piece—because I want to continue offering work that’s meaningful, thoughtfully made, and done with love.

A Glimpse Into My Process

If you’ve ever commissioned a portrait from me, you know that each painting is 100% hand-painted. I begin with your photos and stories—often hearing about the blooming trees planted by a parent, the porch where a furry friend sits all day, or the window that always held a warm light.

From there, I sketch the layout, plan the palette, and slowly build layer after layer of watercolor. Every brick, every leaf, every tiny flowerbed is placed with care. If you’ve requested specific seasonal touches, pets, garden beds, or even lighting conditions, I take the time to research and reference so I can bring your vision to life in a way that feels authentic and magical.

Most paintings take several hours spread over multiple days. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. This slow, thoughtful process is what allows me to create portraits that feel personal, not just pretty.

Why the Change?

Along with rising material costs and the time that goes into each piece, there’s also been a shift in my personal life. I’m currently staying with my parents for a little while due to a family health matter, and although I’m still fully working on orders, it’s meant adjusting how I operate day to day.

To make sure your paintings still arrive safely and quickly—no matter where I am—I now use the best international shipping service available to me here. It’s reliable and fast, but it does come at a higher cost. I’ve been covering those differences myself until now, but to continue offering the same level of quality and care, a small price adjustment became necessary.

This price adjustment ensures I can:

  • Protect each painting with high-quality packaging and tracking

  • Continue using the best materials (from watercolor paper to archival paints)

  • Manage a healthy, sustainable workflow—even during personal challenges

  • Keep my turnaround times realistic, so I can give each painting the attention it deserves

What Stays the Same

The heart of Nzl Studio remains the same. I’m still here—one painting at a time—turning houses into keepsakes. I continue to connect personally with each client, guide you through the process, share a timelapse of your painting coming to life and do my best to capture not just the place, but the feeling behind it.

And for my realtor partners—your special pricing remains unchanged. Your ongoing support has been a huge part of this journey, thank you for being part of it.

Thank You

If you’ve ever ordered a painting, shared my work, or even just followed along quietly, thank you. This studio is what it is because of the care and trust you’ve shown me. Every order is a reminder that stories matter—and that art has a way of keeping them alive.

With love,

Naz
